Diagnosis: Differences from ckello-huaccoto:
Tubers are short, much-faceted, speckled, red, spectacled above eyebrows, with dark eyes. Stem is more decumbent after efflorescence, upper part of pedicle is longer, mucronules are wide and outstanding, outstanding calyx pubescence, longer pubescence of corolla bud, longer style and more flattened stigma. Forms berries.
Tubers are not bitter, but can also be used for Chuno.
Cultivated in dep. Cuzco: Paucartambo (Juz. № 1135, 1347, 1348), Ccoran (Juz. 1390).
Indigenous names: alccai-huarmi ("speckled"), rarely yurac-nahui ("white-eyed"), misquilla de saucant, ccarca-nahui ("dirty eye"). These names correspond to a speckled spectacled color of tubers.
